Meaning is a linguistic problem and the assumption that every symbol has to be meaningful is a cultural mistake, yet there is a reason behind the search. The point is not the dictionary definition or semantic explanation but the motivation to live. Not all questions are asked literally, some are figuratively, and some are unknowingly. The question “what is the meaning of life” is an unknowing question, unknowing what to demand. It’s a great effort, albeit it’s not a great question.
The content of life is too big to describe with words, yet there are encompassing words, at least some signifiers to what it resembles. Some suggest it’s a game, some say it’s a test. There are alternatives such as experiment, simulation, happiness, improvement, religion and hundreds of them. They’re mostly analogies to human actions. We should also name the meaning for other beings. I use a signifier that doesn’t indicate an analogy but an incongruity.
Most of the times, we think for ourselves and forget we’re a part of a family, a social group, a community, a society, a biosphere, a planet, a galaxy, a universe. The offspring of out thought can work in terms of personal matters, but when we think in a broader scope we should enlarge our grounds of thought as well. The meaning of life for a kid can be play, the meaning for humans can be happiness, but what about the universe? What does universe do? In terms of Referrodiffrential Theory, a theory that I devised to interpret the meanings of phenomenon, the universe diffrentiates and all the beings work for diffrentiation. This is the least common denominator for everything. Diffrentiation perhaps is the answer for most of the meaning inquiry, yet the object of the question is a secondary issue. The subject, the audience is more important. You don’t answer to a kid in terms of rocket science, even if the answer is hundred percent true.
Target audience requires us to change the answer completely. A normal person can understand the diffrentiation by their every day acts but we need better words to connotate. First of all, whatever we do, we don’t do it because we already have it. Even if we’ve had it before, we carry the hope to see what happens this time. Even if we’re sure it’s in the bag, we hope something different happens. If not, to see it doesn’t happen. The basic answer for basic people to understand life is “to see what happens.” We can say the universe started so that it can see what happens, in a humanistic analogy, not something in mind but something to bring to the mind.
It would be really great, astounding that we teach this to people, not predisposed judgements. Let’s remind the people why we’re here. We’re here to try, to see and be surprised with whatever happens. Besides, much has happened. There are galaxies right now, with stars at our doorsteps. The planet revolves, we didn’t know that. It was way hotter in the beginning, then it got cold and hot again. There were plants, animals and trees. Trees were a thing, they’re still popular. Then the monkeys, funny rascals. Now, we’re here, what a journey, who’d have said things come so far. How far can it go? Let’s se..
